QC Cocoa B.E.A.N.S. functions as a sponsored organization of NCBC. Members of QC Cocoa B.E.A.N.S. provide a small fee in addition to NCBC membership. B.E.A.N.S. stands for Breastfeeding Education, Advocacy, Normalcy, & Support.
QC Cocoa B.E.A.N.S., based in Charlotte, NC, is comprised of lactation consultants, doulas, dietitians, health educators, social workers and peer counselors. Their primary goal is to educate African American families and empower this community to embrace breastfeeding as a cultural and social norm. The implementation of initiatives is accomplished through volunteerism, community collaboration and the generosity of donors.
