Breastmilk provides the best nutritional start for children’s health. It is not just a source of food, but has many immunologic properties that protect a child from illness and provide a foundation for good heath for their entire lives. At the same time, breastfeeding confers enormous health benefits to the mother. To read more about the specific health impact of breastmilk and breastfeeding, click here. But breastfeeding cannot be a concern only of breastfeeding mothers. It takes a community to support all women to breastfeed their child as long as they choose to do so.
